The National Medical Commission (NMC) has published instructions and a user manual for the implementation of the Hospital Management System (HMS) in all medical colleges, the NIC Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS), and connecting CCTV footage to the NMC Command and Controls Center.
Earlier, the NMC ordered all medical colleges to deploy the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) and Hospital Management System in order to discover a practical and efficient digital way to track faculty attendance.
After instructing all medical colleges to install CCTV cameras a few days prior, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has now given the institutions one month to deploy the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) and Hospital Management System (HMS) at all medical colleges.
The Commission’s Command and Control Center has been requested by the NMC to receive live CCTV feeds from the colleges.
The NMC has requested that a nodal officer be appointed by each medical institution immediately to carry out this programme.
AEBAS, designed by the National Informatics Center (NIC), is to be utilised as an efficient and practical digital solution to track faculty, senior residents, and tutor attendance in all public and private medical colleges.
The NMC secretary stated that the HMS in all medical colleges is for the monitoring of patient load and other criteria at hospitals with medical colleges in a letter written to all medical colleges, both public and private.
The NIC has created e-hospital software, which is currently in use in many hospitals, including important government facilities like AIIMS Delhi, Safdarjung Hospital, and RML Hospital in New Delhi.
According to the secretary’s letter, the registration module will make it easier for patients to self-register at the hospital counter or by using their mobile OTP, Aadhaar, or ABHA ID.
