On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accepted Dr. Raj Bahadur’s resignation as the vice chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Having experienced “humiliation” at the hands of the state’s Health Minister, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Dr. Raj Bahadur had offered his resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. At a hospital, Jouramajra allegedly made Dr. Raj Bahadur rest on an unclean mattress. It occurred last month while Jouramajra was conducting an assessment of the university-affiliated Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital.
No Action against Health minister
The volunteer organisation of doctors in India condemned the “derogatory action” by the Health Minister and described it as a humiliation “not just for Dr. Raj Bahadur but for the entire medical community” in the nation.
“IMA demands the Punjab Health Minister’s immediate, unqualified apologies and resignation for his inappropriate behaviour. According to the statement, “IMA requests to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab to promptly step in and take necessary action against the Minister.
Jouramajra did not have his position as Punjab’s health minister revoked, but he also did not publicly apologise. Fauja Singh Sarari, a government colleague, apologised on his behalf. The state minister is there to show respect, not to make fun of. I sincerely apologise on his behalf. Political leaders should not meddle with or exert pressure on the officers, Sarari stated.
