Jaipur: In an unfortunate incident, a resident doctor working at RBM District Hospital in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room on Monday.

Informing about the incident to the media accounts, the police officials confirmed that the deceased medico, identified as 23-year-old Surendra Gurjar was pursuing his final year in MBBS and was to appear for a practical exam in paediatrics. He allegedly left the exam midway, came back to his hostel room and ended his life.

“The doctor had a practical exam of paediatrics on Monday and he left it midway. He came to his hostel room and allegedly hanged himself by tying a shawl to his neck,” Vijay Kumar, assistant sub-inspector at Saver police station informed the Press Trust of India.

According to the recent report by ABP live, the medico was alone in his room at the Boys Hostel of Government Medical College in the afternoon and the door was locked. When other students wanted to go inside the room, he did not open the door; they looked through the window and found the Rawat hanging from the ceiling.

The fellow students entered the room through the window and brought the medico down from the noose. The police had to break open the hostel room’s door. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“He was breathing when he was brought down. Later, he was declared brought dead,” the police informed.

The medico was reportedly not showing any depression or burnout symptoms that could have made him to take the drastic step. “He used a shawl to hang. He had not shown any signs of depression or any mental fatigue,” a police officer said in his statement to the Times of India.
