National Health Executive hosted a virtual panel discussion back in September 2022, which focused on ‘Social Value in NHS Procurement’.
Adopting the central government’s Social Value Model has been a key change to procurement since April 2022, with a mandatory 10% social value weighting on all procurement.
NHS organisations need to ensure their goods and services are attained with several factors in mind, such as Sustainability and Net-Zero targets (which must be included in all procurement) whilst also ensuring staff wellbeing, providing equal opportunities, tackling economic inequality, and supporting those affected by Covid-19.
This virtual discussion is an opportunity to examine some of the new approaches to including these factors in the tender process.
Panellists:
- Siarah Meah, Social Value Manager, NHS London Procurement Partnership
- Heather Benjamin, Non-Executive Director, Supply Chain Coordination Limited
- Alexandra Hammond, Head of Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain, NHS England
