Dear Editor
The article explores the significance of patient input in developing clinical guidelines. The authors outline GRADE methodology emphasising its strengths in assessing evidence of research while acknowledging its drawbacks in incorporating patient perspectives.
The insight of quantified data alone would not be sufficient to comprehend patient experiences. An in person narrative would contribute meaningfully to the traditional methods. Although there could be hurdles associated with evaluating deeply personal stories from the lived experiences.
The authors further emphasie the three guiding principles for patient input: openness to scrutiny of all evidence, ensuring diversity among patient contributors, and promoting equity to address the power imbalances between communities. These principles uphold the necessity of contribution from panel members as well as the patients.
Fair compensation, training and financial reimbursement supports the participating crowd.
A fair integration of objective and subjective knowledge would ultimately pave the way for improved health care systems.
