Dear Editor

Rammya has raised the concerns that a lot of doctors have daily. It stops people from thinking, wastes a lot of money and time. It is good in a ‘Pay as you go system’ / private health care where every extra test generates revenue and reduces risk. But in the UK it wastes time and money. Clinical knowledge / experience is ignored. It is difficult to measure the losses. Probably the number of negative CTPAs requested for every positive D-Dimer is a good indicator.
