Hyderabad: Renowned cardiologist from Hyderabad, Dr P C Rath, has been elected as president of the prestigious Cardiological Society of India (CSI) for the year 2023-24 in the annual meeting held at Chennai.
Dr P C Rath has pioneered many percutaneous cardiac interventions in the country like complex coronary angioplasty and stenting, Robotic angioplasty and Percutaneous Valve treatment procedures (TAVI),
Dr Rath is currently a Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Department of Cardiology at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
He completed his MBBS from VSS Medical College and MD from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, and obtained his super-specialization (DM-Cardiology) from CMC, Vellore.

Dr P C Rath received training in Angioplasty from St Luke’s Hospital, University of Denver in the USA and completed his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Rouen, France.
The cardiological Society of India is a national body of Cardiologists of India and Indian Cardiologists, settled abroad. It consists of more than 5000 members. The cardiological Society of India was formed under the stewardship of the late Bharat Ratna Dr. Vidhan Shankar Roy, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal in Independent India; in 1948 at Kolkata. He served as the first President of CSI.
The cardiological Society of India will be celebrating its 75th year in December 2023 at Kolkata. Dr. P.C. Rath, the President-Elect will be playing a vital role in framing the Scientific program for the platinum jubilee celebrations.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Dr Hilda Fernandes nee Dsouza had been appointed as the new principal of Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences (FMCOAHS). The mantle of FMCOAHS had been bestowed on Dr Hilda Fernandes nee Dsouza in a short yet meaningful installation ceremony held in the Father Muller College.
