New Delhi: Expressing concerns over an increasing trend of violence against doctors and healthcare professionals across the country, a team of resident doctors of state-run Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has recently written to the Union Health Ministry regarding their demand for the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) or Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at hospitals so that they can work freely in a safe and healthy environment.
“We would like to make a humble request on behalf of all the doctors of our country to please deploy CISF/CRPF at their hospital so they can work freely in a safe and healthy environment,” stated the letter written by the Resident Doctors Association of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
“The doctors toiled hard day and night during COVID and till today they work tirelessly away from home and family. All they ask for is safety by the government not from the patients but from mischievous elements of the society,” the letter said.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated SSK & KSC Hospitals had issued an order temporarily withdrawing the services of marshals and bouncers hired for security purposes in the hospital, days after the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the hospital.
The order issued by deputy director Dr V K Sharma on October 31 observed that the services of the marshals and bouncers would be terminated with immediate effect.
He stated, “I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to inform that the services of marshals/bouncers are temporarily suspended in Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospital, therefore, the services of marshals may be withdrawn with immediate effect till further order.”
The services of marshals, bouncers were withdrawn with immediate effect from Lady Hardinge Medical College and associated hospitals after instructions from Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya.
